Can I use my own materials?

Yes, you most definitely can! All Materials are provided for whoever needs them, but feel free to use your own materials. Just make sure to use 100% cotton fabric for masks.

How many volunteer hours will I get for each task?

You can receive one volunteer hour by doing one of the following: making one mask, three cards, ten origami pieces, or twenty stars.

Do I have to live in the 626 area to volunteer?

Yes, you need to live in the 626 area. However, if you are attending a school outside of 626, but still live in the 626 area, it is fine. If you are outside of 626 and want to be part of essential.c.a.r.e, you can start your own chapter or find an essential.c.a.r.e near you! You can find all of the listed chapters in the official essential.c.a.r.e website.

After I finish my assignment, how do I drop off the donations?

You can drop off the donations through one of our drop-off/pick-up events. First, you will need to fill out the drop-off form linked to the volunteer resources page. Then, we will schedule a time and place where you can drop off your donations, and we will send it to you through email.

Do the origami creations have to be complex or can they be simple?

The origami creations can be simple or complex. It is completely up to you as the creator. Any form of origami is appreciated since the purpose of this is to help out people in any way you can.

Do the cards have generic messages or should they be aimed towards someone?

Once you become a volunteer, you will be sent an email of the requirements needed for your specific assigned donation. It will be stated if you can make a generic message, or if it will be aimed towards someone.

How big can the cards be; can they be any size?

The cards can be any size as long as it is big enough to read and small enough to fit in our care packages. A good rule of thumb is using an 8 x 11 in paper and folding it to your preference. Remember, it is the thought that counts so anything is appreciated.
